Boom! We did it! Last night's SBHS '67 Get Together "On The Beach' at Pequot Avenue was an extraordinary success! Thanks to everyone on the Reunion Committee who worked to make it happen, especially Barbara Doherty for hosting us, and Donna Moore and Bill Beth Crocker who worked to ensure that we had the 'necessaries' (table supplies, ice, canopies, etc.) to make things work smoothly! We had about 30 attendees, making it the largest turnout since the Reunion itself, on a perfect beach evening. We were treated to an extraordinary display of New London History when The Mystic Whaler and La Amistad sailed The Sound right in front of us for an hour, as a marvelous pink sunset reflected off Ledge Light. It was Magical. Not to mention the wonderful food, drink and camaraderie that overflowed the deck, spilling onto the beach, emanating from our classmates who came from such far flung places as Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Philadelphia, and Massachusetts! And, as we were closing up, we even had a surprise 'pop-in' visit from 'The Sassies', a cadre of SBHS '68 ladies, led by Maureen Dugan Adams, who were having their own reunion of sorts this week! It was a fantastic evening! Wow! Thank you to everyone who made it happen!

August 23 2019: Pequot Avenue Get Together, Part I
The SBHS Class of 1967 had a little post-Reunion Get Together tonite on the beach along Pequot Avenue. As sunset approached, this happened: a snapshot of New London History, personified. That is the Mystic Whaler on the left, and La Amistad (replica) on the right. Remarkable moment for our classmates to witness, especially those who came in from out of town! You don’t get this anywhere else, folks! And totally serendipitous. We loved it.
Much more to come!

August 23 Venue Announced: Barbara's Beach, 904 Pequot Avenue, New London!
Hi All,
After another grueling ;) Committee meeting last night, the SBHS '67 Reunion Committee is pleased to announce the venue for our third ---and final --- Get Together of the Summer:
Barbara Doherty has graciously offered, and we have accepted, the use of her family's section of private beach located at 904 Pequot Avenue! The site contains a good-sized deck at street level with some chairs and a picnic table; a small section of beach with facilities including a bathroom and an outdoor shower.
DATE: August 23, 2019 (You saved the date, right? ;) )
TIME: 5:00pm to 9pm..... or later
LOCATION: Barbara Doherty's Family Beach at 904 Pequot Avenue, New London. (Remember The Wall Boys? That is where we will be!) Map photos attached.
WHAT: Informal Social Gathering with our Class of 1967 Classmates.
BYOB
FOOD: Pot Luck style. Please bring a Dish of whatever you want to share: simple appetizers, small platters, salads (green, pasta, whatever), or a dessert... are all welcome. (Figure to bring enough for about 10 people, and we will have more than enough!) No stress, please keep it simple.
The '67 Reunion Committee will supply plates, flatware, napkins and cups.
There is a picnic table on site, and a few chairs. I know some folks are coming from a distance, ---including some SURPRISE GUESTS from Philadelphia and the DC area! --- and we will reserve chairs for them. So please bring your own chair if possible, suitable for either the deck or the beach.
Please find attached several photos showing the location of Barbara's Beach. Shoot us an email if you have any questions.
N.B. Since the planned venue is outdoors, weather will be a factor. In case of inclement weather, this Moveable Feast will relocate about 100 yards up the street to Donna Moore's house at 859 Pequot Avenue. Thank you, Donna!
Both locations are marked on the attached photos.
So this will be a 'rain or shine' event. If we know in advance that the weather isn't going to cooperate, we will let you know. In any case, the two locations are only steps away from each other; we will be at one or the other. Street parking is available.
BTW, over the past three years, your Reunion Committee has had the opportunity to try out both of these great venues for committee meetings. Both have earned our highest recommendation for commodious accommodations and wonderfully friendly and gracious proprietors: Barbara and Donna!
See you there!
