See you at The Lighthouse Inn: Sunday, August 27, 2023!

Hello, All Fellow Classmates of SBHS '67,

Your Reunion Committee is pleased to announce.... at long last! ...... the plans for the 2023 SBHS '67 Get Together! You will recall that we sent out a 'Save-the Date' announcement back in January, with the details as to venue, etc., TBD.

Well, after dealing with some complications over the venue that were beyond our control, and reviewing a number of possible alternative settings, we are pleased to announce that the details that were 'TBD", have "Now Been Determined'!

 And here they are:
 DATE: AUGUST 27, 2023 TIME: 4pm-8pm
PLACE: LIGHTHOUSE INN, 6 WEST GUTHRIE PLACE NEW LONDON, CT 06320 (link attached below)
RSVP: ASAP, but no later than Monday, August 21, 2023.
 RSVP to: saintbernard.classof1967@gmail.com

N.B. No tickets or reservations are required, but we need to give the venue a head count to ensure sufficient staffing, supplies, etc.

AMENITIES: Full Bar and Dinner Menu Available. Depending on the turnout/response, we may have a section of the dining area set aside to accommodate us.
Addendum: We have no idea at this point what the response will be. If it looks like we will have a very large turnout, we may need to adjust accordingly, e.g., perhaps switch to a buffet style meal for logistical reasons. We will monitor the response and post any adjustments as soon as we determine the need.

Come for the nostalgic elegance of one of New London's restored treasures, and perhaps your memories of a Junior Prom or family dinner! Or come for the drinks and the fabulous food, which has gotten rave reviews since their reopening last year! But mostly we want you to come for the opportunity to meet and socialize with old friends from so many years ago: 56 years, to be exact!

We look forward to seeing you all on August 27, 2023!

The Lighthouse Inn, originally known as Meadow Court, is a Colonial Revival hotel building at 6 Guthrie Place in New London, Connecticut. The Mission-style main house was designed by William Ralph Emerson and built in 1902 as a country home for steel industry magnate Charles S. Guthrie. It is one of the few examples of this architectural style in the city. The building and surviving estate remnants were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.[1] It was listed for sale by the city in February 2014 and purchased for restoration in 2016. The property was developed as a summer estate in the early 20th century by the Guthrie’s. Their decision to locate here was spurred in part by the Pequot Colony resort area located nearby. Charles Guthrie died unexpectedly in 1906 and his widow, Frances, began summering on Long Island.[3] She began selling off parts of the estate for development in 1925, and the main house was converted into an inn in 1927.[3] The inn was popular with Hollywood stars in the 1940s[2] for dining and events, competing with downtown hotels for business. 2022 marks the 120th anniversary of the Lighthouse Inn which will reignite its reputation as a landmark destination to the area.
